What do you miss in the Indian Education System?
There should be a Subject called “Essentials of Life”. It can be divided into multiple chapters like:
Chapter 1: Respect for fellow human beings
Chapter 2: Respect for all other living beings
Chapter 3: Understanding of others personal space
Chapter 4: Legal and moral aspects of culture: gender equality, rights and duties in a family structure, civil code
Chapter 5: Understanding marriage, relationships, values of family etc.
Chapter 6: Understanding religion, caste, economic divides and national boundaries with the need for it, perspectives.
Chapter 7: Screening information — critical thinking, news understanding etc.
Chapter 8: Understanding of rights and duties of citizens w.r.t environment, conservation of resources, collective responsibilities.
Chapter 9: Understanding of cyber dos and do not, traffic dos and do not etc.
Chapter 10: Sex education: busting myths and creating transparency
Chapter 11: Time management, Stress handling etc.
In short, “Make life essentials explicit in school learning”.
