  1. Lone Shark | 10x Developer (LS/10X)
  2. (Can handle the work of 10 people single-handedly, Lot of ownership)

2. Alpha Geek (AG)

(A solid & super ICs but not a good team player)

3. Perfect Slug (PS)

(Pace of work will be kind of slow, But concentrates a lot of perfection & a good team player)

4. Turbo coder (TC)

(Completes work super fast, One can simply rely on him when there are super tight deadlines /Quick tasks/POCs etc. But messy code, Needs rework later)

5. Pro Balancer (PB)

(Maintains a balance between fast & efficiency but very much process-oriented and not flexible for kanban way of working)

I’m sure every team is a mix of these folks. But too many AGs or PSs, or TCs can kill the crew. A perfect blend of these people’s needs in the team. 2–3 lone sharks can do wonders, but you hardly get them. So always choose a balance when hiring or setting up a team.

There can be mix of 2 types as well. They change their type by adapting to situations.

Every type of developer I mentioned above has to be treated differently, Either it’s 1:1s / R&R / Work allocation / Planning their career progression, etc. Will discuss more on this later.

Comment down which type you belong to? I might reach out 😊
